Binance began reopening withdrawals for another batch of crypto assets at 04:00 UTC on Tuesday, expanding access after freezing withdrawals following a security breach it valued at $6.3 billion. In its Tuesday recovery update, the exchange said assets would return progressively as security checks were completed.
Which withdrawals are reopening?
The new batch covers selected assets across BSC, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Sui, Arbitrum, Optimism, Tron and Base, Binance said. It listed BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA and USDT among the assets scheduled to return, but warned that availability would roll out gradually rather than all at once.
How much has Binance’s breach affected customers?
Binance said its hot wallets were compromised on Oct. 29, causing unauthorized withdrawals worth about $6.3 billion. The exchange said about $3 billion had been frozen on-chain. Customers withdrew a net $4.72 billion after withdrawals resumed on Sunday, roughly 3% of platform assets, Reuters reported Monday.
What happens to the remaining assets?
Binance said it would add more assets as each network clears its security and readiness checks, but gave no timetable for completing the rollout. The exchange has said it will absorb the financial impact of the stolen funds and not pass losses to users.
