Check the USDT Network Before You Send
Match the network on the receiving USDT deposit page to the sender’s withdrawal route, then check the address, fee and any memo before you send.

To check a USDT deposit network, open the recipient’s deposit instructions and choose only a network that the sending wallet or exchange also supports. USDT is available on multiple blockchains, and the ticker alone does not identify which one will carry the transfer.
How do I verify the USDT deposit network?
Start on the receiving side: select USDT, open its deposit page and note the network shown beside the address. Tether’s deposit guidance tells users to choose the network protocol and check that it matches the transfer route.
Then open the sender’s withdrawal screen and compare its network options with the recipient’s instructions. The names may use different labels: ERC-20 refers to Ethereum, while TRC-20 refers to TRON. Match the network itself, not just the word “USDT” or the address format.
- Confirm the recipient accepts USDT on the selected network.
- Check that the sender can withdraw USDT on that same network.
- Copy the address from the recipient’s current deposit screen.
- Check for any required memo or tag, plus the minimum deposit and confirmation instructions.
If the two screens do not show a clear match, stop and check the recipient’s official instructions before sending. For a conversion payout, this guide to an XMR bridge’s USDT payout network explains how the destination shapes that choice.
Why does the USDT network matter?
A token ticker names the asset, not the blockchain route. USDT on Ethereum and USDT on TRON are separate network transfers; the recipient must support the asset on the particular chain used. An address that looks familiar is not proof that the network is right. Some networks use similar address formats, so check the network label as well as the characters.
Exchanges set their own deposit support, and it can differ by asset and account. A network available for USDT at one service may not be available at another. The recipient’s live deposit page is the instruction for that transfer; do not infer support from a list for a different platform or token.
When sending from a wallet you control, also make sure it has the native coin needed to pay that network’s transaction fee. An exchange withdrawal may instead show or deduct a withdrawal fee. Compare the amount that will arrive after fees, and check the recipient’s minimum deposit before choosing between routes.
Which network should I choose for a USDT deposit?
Choose the lowest-cost network that both sides explicitly support and that meets the recipient’s deposit rules. There is no single best USDT network for every transfer: a lower fee does not help if the recipient cannot credit that route.
Before a large transfer, a small test can confirm that the address and route work, though it may incur a separate fee and still needs the same network checks. Review the final withdrawal summary for the asset, network, address and amount; if any detail differs from the deposit instructions, cancel and correct it.
The next step is to compare both screens immediately before sending, then submit only after the network and address match.
