Coinbase said on Oct. 7 that it had completed its Deribit integration, creating Coinbase Global Exchange, and plans to bring back Coinbase Pro by year-end. The company said the combined platform will connect U.S. and international derivatives markets in one liquidity pool, according to Coinbase’s announcement.
Coinbase said the integration will give traders access to more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest, measured Sept. 30, and a platform that processed more than $1 trillion in trading volume last year. It said Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios will roll out in the coming weeks.
How does the Deribit integration change access to derivatives?
Coinbase Financial Markets, its U.S.-regulated futures commission merchant, will connect eligible U.S. clients to global crypto derivatives liquidity, the company said. U.S. institutional clients will be able to trade Deribit options and perpetual futures through Coinbase Prime; Coinbase said onboarding is open, with options trading expected in the coming weeks.
Coinbase acquired Deribit for about $2.9 billion in August 2025, according to The Block’s report. Coinbase said traders outside the U.S. will get options access in the coming weeks, while U.S. retail access is expected later this year.
What will Coinbase Pro offer, and when?
Coinbase says the returning platform will bring spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities trading under one roof. It described the service as a professional platform with faster order routing, improved execution flows and tools for high-volume traders.
The original Coinbase Pro shut down in 2022 as the company moved advanced trading into its main app, The Block reported. Coinbase has not given a specific launch day for the new Pro platform; it says the relaunch is planned for the end of 2026.
