Samsung Wallet will add USDC on Sui for eligible U.S. Galaxy users, putting stablecoin transfers within reach of 82 million compatible devices, the Sui Foundation said on Oct. 8. Sui’s announcement named Sui as a blockchain infrastructure partner for the wallet’s stablecoin service.
Samsung’s Oct. 7 announcement said USDC will be the first supported stablecoin and identified both Sui and Solana as blockchain network partners. The 82 million figure refers to U.S. Galaxy devices compatible with Samsung Wallet, not confirmed users.
Where can users send USDC from Samsung Wallet?
Samsung says eligible users will be able to send USDC to compatible crypto wallets internationally and to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where recipients may receive local currency. Samsung will charge no fee for transfers to external wallets, though the recipient’s wallet or exchange may charge one; fees apply to bank transfers.
Sui says users will be able to hold and send USDC on its network through Samsung Wallet. Its gasless transfer system is designed to let users send USDC without paying a network fee or holding SUI for transaction costs. Sui’s announcement says the SUI token itself will not be supported in Samsung Wallet at launch.
Which Galaxy devices qualify?
Samsung says access is for eligible U.S. residents aged 18 or older with a Samsung Account and a Galaxy device compatible with Samsung Wallet running Android 13 or later. Users must register, complete identity verification and set up biometric authentication. Samsung says the service is designed to work through Wallet without requiring another crypto app or users to manage private keys.
When does the US rollout begin?
Samsung plans to make the feature available in the last week of October across eligible Galaxy devices. The company says any expansion beyond the U.S. will depend on regulatory developments in each market.
