Tether wins 15 commitments for Bitcoin mining toolkit
Tether says 15 Bitcoin mining operators, equipment makers and pools will build integrations for its open-source MDK, which aims to connect software across systems.

Tether said on Oct. 24 that 15 Bitcoin mining operators, equipment makers and pools committed to building and maintaining integrations for its open-source Mining Development Kit (MDK), a framework designed to let software work across different mining systems, according to Tether’s announcement.
Which mining firms committed to MDK integrations?
The participants include equipment makers BITMAIN, Canaan and MicroBT; pools Foundry Digital, F2Pool, Luxor Technology, OCEAN, EMCD and SpiderPool; and operators and other firms including Bitdeer, Proto, ACME Swisstech, Elektron Energy, Heatbit and Stratum V2. Tether said each company will build and maintain an MDK Worker, a translation layer connecting its own hardware, pool or system to applications built on MDK.
The Workers are intended to give applications a common interface to different systems. Companies choose which functions to expose, Tether said, and do not need to replace their existing technology. Crypto.news reported on the commitments and noted that Tether did not say all integrations were complete or that MDK had been deployed across the participants’ mining operations.
How could the shared interface support automation?
Developers could build monitoring tools or AI agents against MDK instead of making separate integrations for each manufacturer or pool, Tether said. The company said its QVAC mining agent is already operating on the framework, but it disclosed no independent results on energy use, mining output or maintenance costs.
The announcement brings hardware makers, mining operators and pools into one development effort, but the commitments do not establish how widely the software will be used. Tether’s list includes 15 participants spanning equipment, facilities and pool services.
When is MDK’s stable release due?
Tether targets the first stable MDK 1.0 release by the end of 2026. The company said developers can already access the open-source framework and begin building integrations; the end-of-year release is the next stated milestone.
