Schroders launches emerging-markets bond strategy on Solana

Schroders launched tokenized exposure to its emerging-markets bond strategy on Solana on Nov. 4 through Centrifuge, marking the asset manager’s first deployment on the blockchain, according to Centrifuge’s announcement. The product provides exposure to the Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond strategy.

What is being issued on Solana?

The fund’s onchain offering is a feeder fund with a tokenized share class, CoinDesk reported. It invests in Schroders’ underlying Emerging Market Bond Fund, so investors hold shares in the feeder rather than directly owning the fund’s bonds, CoinDesk reported.

The underlying strategy invests in debt issued by governments and companies across emerging economies. Schroders said in Centrifuge’s announcement that the Solana deployment is its first on the network; the manager has invested in emerging-markets debt for more than 50 years and has more than 40 professionals dedicated to the asset class.

How does the tokenized share track the fund?

CoinDesk reported that the feeder’s share value tracks the underlying fund’s net asset value. The arrangement gives holders tokenized shares in the feeder, not direct ownership of Schroders’ underlying fund or its bonds. Neither source specifies a subscription minimum, fees or investor eligibility.

What comes next for the Solana launch?

Centrifuge said the Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond initially launches on Solana. Its announcement identifies this as Schroders’ first deployment on the network but gives no date for a further deployment.
